JAH Continues Meteoric Rise

June 21, 2017

At the same time, JAH continues to increase its impact factor, the primary measurement for citations and recognition within the academic community. JAH’s impact factor is now at 3.974, up over 1.5 points from only a decade ago when it was 2.39.
Editor-in-Chief Charles E. Irwin, Jr., MD, has been critical to JAH’s success after taking over the role 15 years ago. Dr. Irwin makes a point to carefully review each submitted article that JAH receives. Articles submissions have more than doubled since Dr. Irwin became the editor and last year JAH received a record 1,524 submissions.
SAHM President Dr. Tamera Coyne-Beasley says, “SAHM is extremely proud of Dr. Irwin and the entire JAH staff. It is an amazing accomplishment that Dr. Irwin has taken JAH from a smaller publication and turned it into one of the premier academic journals in our field. We are indebted and extremely grateful to Dr. Irwin for his innovation, invaluable expertise, and tireless efforts."
In addition, JAH continues to publish important supplements on adolescent health, including four in 2015, three in 2016 and is on pace for seven in 2017, including two of its most recent, “Cultivating Connections, the Importance of Relationships in Adolescent and Young Adult Health” and “Implementing Community-Wide Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiatives”.
