  1. Review the above list of SAHM committees with current openings and their charge.
  2. Indicate up to three committees in order of preference by completing and submitting the application for committee volunteers.
  3. Include a brief statement (no more than a paragraph) describing your interest and qualifications for each committee you list.
    • Example for the Advocacy Committee: I have been involved in advocacy work no matter the community I reside. I consider adolescent medicine as “the boots on the ground”, interwoven in communities working directly with the patients and various groups that champion adolescent health. From my experience developing programs and being a board member of various organizations, I have become a natural leader and am very passionate about programs that promote the health and well-being of children and their families. I know that I am privileged to have a voice that is respected. I hope to be able to represent those less fortunate and create change that impacts those that need it most.

Committee appointments will be made by the President in consultation with the President-Elect and Committee Chairs. Final decisions will consider the applicant’s preference while also considering relevant bylaws requirements, space available, the needs of the committee and ensuring each committee roster includes a diverse representation of the SAHM membership.

All committee members must be members in good standing in the Society.  If you have not yet renewed your membership, please do so now. The term of service for committee members is three years with the option for re-appointment to an additional three-year term. (Article X, SAHM By-Laws)
