Lawrence S. Neinstein Award in Young Adult Health
The Lawrence S. Neinstein Award in Young Adult Health was established in memory of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM) Past President Larry Neinstein and his numerous contributions to the health of adolescents and young adults. In particular, Dr. Neinstein was a pioneer and world leader in the burgeoning field of young adult health. Dr. Neinstein was a professor of Pediatrics and Medicine, Executive Director of the Engemann Student Health Center, Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Head of the Division of College Health at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.
This award recognizes an individual (who does not need to be a member of SAHM) whose educational scholarship, which can encompass both research and innovation in health professions education, in a health-related discipline has had a significant and positive impact on young adult health.
The Lawrence S. Neinstein Award in Young Adult Health shall recognize individuals from any health-related discipline:
(i) who are early to mid-career (defined as no more than 10 years from completion of training or receipt of a terminal degree in a field directly related to adolescent health)
(ii) whose sustained body of work and notable contributions in research and/or innovation in health professions education clearly advances young adult health
(iii) who involve patients (young adults), parents, health professionals, trainees or the community in their educational scholarship;
(iv) who show great promise for future meaningful educational contributions to the field of young adult health.
