Call for Membership Applications
The Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM) is seeking members to serve on its Publications Editorial Board (PEB).
Application Deadline: Friday, February 20, 2026
The PEB is responsible for preserving and enhancing SAHM’s reputation as a trusted source of high-quality information on adolescent and young adult health. The PEB provides leadership in the development of the Society’s position papers and oversees the full editorial lifecycle, including conception, development, review, and approval.
PEB membership should reflect the diversity of SAHM’s membership, including professional discipline, career stage, and geographic representation.
The PEB meets 6–7 times per year via Zoom. Members are expected to have sufficient protected time to review position paper proposal materials and draft manuscripts throughout the year.
Individual PEB Member responsibilities include:
- Review and provide substantive feedback on submitted Position Paper Proposal Intent Forms.
- Review and provide substantive feedback on submitted final position paper drafts and, in partnership with the full PEB, participate in determinations regarding approval.
- Review existing SAHM position papers and, in partnership with other PEB members, provide recommendations regarding the need for revision or retirement.
- When assigned, serve as a liaison to an author group proposing a new position paper or revisions to an existing position paper, acting as the primary point of contact with the PEB and supporting the author group throughout the full development, review, and approval process.
Eligibility & Appointment
Interested applicants must be current SAHM members and have demonstrated experience in scientific writing and editing.
Appointments are made by the Director of Publications, with approval from the President of the Society.

Dr. Ellen provides strategic leadership of the Publications Editorial Board, overseeing the development, review, and approval of SAHM position papers. He also serves as a non-voting member of the SAHM Board of Directors.
