This document represents a synthesis of current scientific knowledge and rational clinical practice on the treatment of patients with schizophrenia. It consists of three parts: Treatment Recommendations for Patients with Schizophrenia, Background Information and Review of Available Evidence and Future Research Directions. In 2009 a supplement was published to highlight key research studies published since 2004.

Practice Parameter for the Assessment and Treatment of Children and Adolescents With Schizophrenia

This Practice Parameter reviews the literature on the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with schizophrenia. Early-onset schizophrenia is diagnosed using the same criteria as in adults and appears to be continuous with the adult form of the disorder.

The goal of the AHRQ-funded project, Youth Providers 2.0 (YP2.0), is to improve the use of evidence-based practices among health care providers caring for adolescents and young adults. To accomplish this goal, SAHM will engage in a number of activities using new media to improve the dissemination of patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) to health professionals.
